No. 1 USC was just the harbinger for Saturday. Ranked teams Florida, Wisconsin, Wake Forest, Clemson and East Carolina all lost.
It all started Thursday night with the shocker of a game. The #1 ranked USC Trojans lost to the Oregon State Beavers 27-21. After the USC rout of Ohio State the previous week, USC seemed like a sure thing to remain #1 after playing Oregon State. Well, nope, not in the cards.....
So, then the upsets began.
Maryland beats (#20) Clemson 20-17.
Ole Miss. stuns (#4) Florida 31-30.
UH (!) defeats (#23)East Carolina 41-24.
Michigan beats (#9)Wisconsin 27-25
Navy surprises (#16) Wake Forest 24-17.
The stunner of the night ......
(#8) Alabama (Roll TIDE) shocks (#3) Georgia 41-30 in Athens!
In not a upset (#2) Oklahoma handily beats (24) TCU 35-10.
So, the Sooners will probably move up to the #1 spot. Boo, hiss on that.
(#7) Texas easily defeated Arkansas, so they should move up, since both the #3 and #4 teams lost.
(#5) LSU hangs on the win over Mississippi State. LSU remains undefeated.
(#6) Missouri did not play.
Other undefeated teams include Oklahoma (4-0).Alabama (5-0).
Texas (4-0), #13 South Florida (5-0),#17 Utah 5-0.
So, is a repeat of last year happening already? Will Oklahoma be able to stay in the #1 spot. Probably so, at least for awhile, but it already seems like anything could happen from week to week.
Plus Notre Dame (3-1) seems to be back to its winning ways with a 38-21 win over Purdue. Go Irish!
Oh, on a baseball note. The Astros are officially done for the season. Sooooooo....
GO CUBS!!!!!!!!
And, I will blog later on the death of Paul Newman. A sad day.
